Installation Guide

Ver. 2.24.11

Tools You Need

Straight Edge, Utility Knife, Clippers (for cutting irregular shaped areas), Spacers (1/8”)

Planks you Need

First find out the square footage by measuring the length and width of your room. Measure areas of the room that are recessed or offset separately to add to the square footage. We recommend you purchase at least 10% extra material to cover for mistakes, trimming and/or replacement.

For example, NuClic Flooring comes in 47.7” x 7.3” planks or 2.40 square feet per plank. There are 8 planks per case, which is equivalent to 19.23 square feet per case.

If your room is 10’ x 10’ or 100 sq. ft., we would recommend that you purchase 6 cases which is equal to approx. 115 sq. ft.

NOTE: Keep in mind that different RUN numbers (dye lot) can have slightly varying shades. For the most natural and consistent looking floors, purchase cases from the same RUN numbers. The RUN numbers are printed on the ends of each NuClic Flooring case and are in the format of a 6 digit number. Example: 101005. If you do happen to have cases from more than one RUN number, we recommend you randomly mix and install planks from 4 or 5 different cases from different RUN numbers. This method will ensure a more evenly varied natural looking floor.

Before Installation

Must store boxes flat in the room that you will be installing for 48 hours prior to installation. The room temperature must be 65˚-85˚F degrees during acclamation period and during installation as well. Note: Do not remove planks during acclamation period.

Subfloor Preparation

The subfloor must be solid, smooth, flat, dry, and clean. Any adhesives from previous floor must be removed completely to insure proper installation.

NuClic Flooring will tolerate up to 1/8” (3mm) over a span of 4 feet, any evenness over 1/8” (3mm) will have to be sanded or filled with a floor leveler. NuClic Flooring will not lock properly if installed over humps or voids in the subfloor.

NuClic Flooring is a completely waterproof product, not a WATERPROOFER. Please check subfloors for moisture issues. Any moisture problems need to be addressed prior to installation. New concrete floors need to cure for a minimum of 60 days.

Installing NuClic Flooring

  1. Start in the corner (left hand side) and proceed from the wall with the tongue facing out away from the wall. Make sure to allow a minimum gap of 1/8” (3mm) for expansion and contraction. The molding should cover the gaps around the perimeter.
  2. Lay the first row in a straight-line, interlock the short ends by dropping into the grooves and make sure to line up evenly. This is very important for a good installation.
  3. Make sure the seams are tight. You will be able to adjust each plank to insure a tight seam. There should be no gap visible between planks. Note: All NuClic Flooring comes with a micro bevel. The lighter colors may show a line between planks more then the darker colors. If your seams appear not to be tight, you can simply pull apart and reapply. Make sure to slowly lift the top plank away from the bottom plank and reapply them
  4. Make sure to stagger the rows so that the short end seams are not in a straight uniform line. This will insure the long ends of the planks properly lock in the short end.
  5. Start the second row with the plank cut at about 2/3 of a length. Measure and mark the plank, then using a straight edge and utility knife, score the plank and snap.
  6. Interlock the long side of the plank tightly against the first row by simply locking and then dropping the plank. Continue installing the floor using the lock and drop method.
  7. Start the third row with the plank cut at about 1/3 of a length. Continue installing the floor in this pattern for the remainder of the rows needed. Always place the cut end of the first plank against the wall.
  8. Fitting around irregular objects is just as simple. Simply make a pattern out of heavy paper to fit around the irregular objects. Place the pattern upon the plank and trace. Cut along trace lines using a utility knife or heavy-duty scissors, and lay plank. Make sure to leave a minimum of 1/8” expansion space around all fixed objects, floor vents and doorframes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE THE ROOM TEMPERATURE IS SET AT 60˚-85˚F WHEN INSTALLING
